Teatret Gruppe 38 is an internationally awarded theatre located at the harbor front of Aarhus Oe. Here we present thought-provoking performing arts experiences that sharpen your imagination and gives space for reflection and analouge precence.

Teatret Gruppe 38 is led by Artistic Leader, Playwright, Director and Actor Bodil Alling who has been rewarded with a number of honorary awards and achieved international recognition.

At Teatret Gruppe 38 you get alternative, quirky but relatable experiences that you will not find anywhere else.

Teatret Gruppe 38 has an extensive tour-programme – in Denmark and abroad. Amongst other destinations, we have been visiting Australia, Croatia, Norway, Canada, USA, Germany, Estonia, Scotland and Japan.

Teatret Gruppe 38 presents international performances on our stage in Aarhus too. As a theatre frequently touring internationally, we experience a lot of international performing arts and the best of it, we wish to share with our audiences in Aarhus – Danes as well as internationals.

Awards

  • Teatret Gruppe 38 has been nominated and awarded with multiple awards throughout the years.
    The ones we are most proud of:
  • SUPPOSE YOU HAD A PORTABLE GRAMMOPHONE was rewarded with the Danish Performing Arts Award Reumert of The Year for Special Performance of The Year 2019. 
  • The performances HANS, CHRISTIAN, YOU MUST BE AN ANGEL (2006) and THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL (2003) received the great Danish theatre award: Reumert of The Year for Best Performance for Children and Young People.
  • In 2011, Teatret Gruppe 38 as the first Danish theatre received one of the most prestigious theatre awards: The Assitej International’s Honorary President’s Award for Artistic Excellence.
  • In 2017, theatre director Bodil Alling was given the Visionary Price of The Danish Lauritzen Foundation.
