About us The intimate theatre at the harbor front of Aarhus

Whimsical, internationally acknowledged theatre at the harbor front of Aarhus

Teatret Gruppe 38 is a professional, awarded theatre which has existed since 1972. Today, the theatre is located at the harbor front of Aarhus Ø. Here we present thought-provoking performing arts experiences that sharpens your imagination and gives a well needed space for reflection in a hectic world.

Teatret Gruppe 38 is led by Artistic Leader, Playwright and Actor Bodil Alling who has been rewarded with a number of honorary awards and achieved international recognition.

At Teatret Gruppe 38 you get alternative, quirky but relatable performing arts experiences that you will not find anywhere else in Aarhus. All performances presented by Teatret Gruppe 38 are created for intimate scenes, meaning that the present contact with audience is essential.

Unpredictable but recognizable

Teatret Gruppe 38’s aesthetic profil is unique, whimsical, hand-held, and poetic. We strive to create unpredictable but recognizable stories that strenghtens your courage to change something seemingly unchangeable.

International programme – also for non-Danish speaking audiences

Teatret Gruppe 38 presents both Danish and international performing arts at our two stages in Aarhus. If you do not speak Danish, please keep an eye on our international programme.
