THE LIE is the delicate tale of a girl who lies at the dinner table one night. When she goes to her room, the lie has taken the shape of a red circle in front of her. The next morning it’s still there.
As the days pass, the circle grows, multiplies and invades her life – it even makes it difficult for her to breathe.
The story never reveals to us what her lie is about. It’s between her and it – just as our lies are between all of us and our own small fabricated truths.
Come to Aarhus Ø and watch an impressive dance performance that visualises how overwhelming a lie can be to handle once it is told.
The wordless performance is inspired by a novel by author Catherine Grives. With grace and lightness, it depicts an inner struggle that we have all experienced. Through movement, the girl’s emotional states are conveyed in a sensory experience.
